What is Silica sand/Quartz sand?
Silica sand /Quartz sand is one of the most common varieties of sand found in the world. It is used for a wide range of applications, and can be purchased from wide suppliers in China.
Sand is the general term for broken down granules of minerals or rocks, technically between about one-sixteenth of a millimeter to two millimeters in diameter, falling between silt and gravel in the range of sizes. There are many varieties of sand in the world, each with their own unique composition and qualities.
The most common mineral in the Earth’s continental crust is quartz, and most silica sand is made up of broken down quartz crystals. Silica is another name for silicon dioxide, SiO2, of which quartz is a specific latticed structure. So silica sand is quartz that over the years, through the work of water and wind, has been broken down into tiny granules. These granules can be used for many different purposes, and can be found in most non-tropical regions of the world.
Advantages of silica sand :
1,High purity with low iron content
4,High electrical resistivity
7,Our own mine which could reduce the cost of travelling
8,Professional workers and superior skills
9,Special recipe to batching
10,High quality conclude three-times iron exception, automatic batching from position and more than five times examination.
Application of silica sand:
Because of special physical properties, chemical properties and strong resistance to acid medium, the silica sands play an important role in many applications as below:
--GLASS: primary materials for sheet glass, glass products (glass pot, glass tube, etc), fiberglass, glass cloth, ect.
--CERAMIC AND FIRE-PROOF MATERIAL.
--METALLURGY: as chemical additive or melting agent for silicon metal, ferro-silicon alloy, ect.
--CONSTRUCTION: Concretes, road material, artificial marble, ect.
--CHEMICAL INDUSTRY: raw material of Silicon compound and sodium silicate, etc.
--MACHINERY: primary materials for Casting molding sand, abrasive substance (sand blasting, sandpaper, etc.)
--ELECTRON: for the high-purity metallic silicon, optical fiber, etc.
--RUBBER, PLASTIC: as the filler material for enhancing wear resistance.
--COATING: as the filler material for enhancing weathering resistance.
